1. Visit The Cellular Jail
The Cellular Jail at Port Blair is one of the most frequented spots in the city. The structure is a witness to the treatment lashed out at the freedom fighters of our country. It got its name ‘Cellular’ because it is made up of several cells for solitary confinement. Today, the Jail is a National Memorial and also comprises a Museum to learn about the struggles during India’s fight for independence.

2. Admire the Light and Sound Show
Next is another experience that must not be missed when in Port Blair! During this show, artists enact the struggles faced by prisoners during the war for independence from the British. It will leave you teary-eyed and fill your heart with pride and emotion! It’s the saga of the heroic struggle of the revolutionary men in the history of India’s freedom struggle. The history of the Cellular Jail is brought alive by this show and features narration by the legend, Om Puri!
Timings: Two shows daily at 18:00 and 19:15 in Hindi except for on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when the second show is in English.
3. Go on a museum tour
The city of Port Blair has some wonderful museums that must not be missed for anything in the world! Samudrika, which is the Naval Marine Museum, is a repository of unique flora and fauna, both over land and underwater and has a huge collection of shells, corals and colourful fish. Next is the Anthropological Museum, which showcases the four Negrito tribes of the Andaman and two Mongoloid tribes of Nicobar.
4. Bird watching at Chidiya Tapu
Only about 17 kilometres from the main city is Chidiya Tapu, which is famous for its beautiful sunsets and bird-watching. All kinds of exotic birds can be spotted here, so there’s no reason for you to leave your camera back home. The best time to go birdwatching here is during the morning when they are highly active. To enjoy the beautiful sunsets, stay till around 4 pm.
